Devolution – Regional Groups
Across the UK, MALG is powered not just by our national network, but by eight Regional Groups that bring creditors, advisers, local authorities, utilities, enforcement, regulators and community organisations together to solve problems where they actually happen – on the ground.
With the new Prime Minister signalling a stronger focus on devolution and locally driven decision‑making, this regional network has never been more important.
Local leaders, Mayors, combined authorities, and place‑based partnerships are increasingly shaping the policies, commissioning decisions, and service models that affect people in financial difficulty. That means the conversations that matter most about vulnerability, data‑sharing, early intervention, and fair treatment are happening regionally as much as nationally.
MALG’s Regional Groups ensure that:
✅ Local insight informs national thinking
✅ National developments are translated into practical action
✅ Cross‑sector collaboration happens at a place‑based level
✅ Members can respond quickly to emerging local priorities
✅ Voices from every part of the ecosystem are heard and connected
If you’re not already involved in one or more of our Regional Groups, now is the perfect time to join the conversation. Your next opportunity is at the MALG Scotland Meeting on 20 August in Kilmarnock – find out more here.
