MALG Northern Ireland was formed in February 2006 to bring together creditors, debt collection companies and advisers from across the country. Its aims and objectives mirror those of MALG itself.
The group meets at least four times a year to discuss issues such as debt and mental health. It is chaired by Carmel Morris of the Irish League of Credit Unions and Sinead Campbell of Advice NI.
Other members include Myra McKeown of StepChange, Kathy McKenna of Citizens Advice, Philip Batt of Civil Service Ben Fund, Sheila Bradshaw of NI Housing Executive, Linda Wilson of Advice NI, Janine Maher of Money Advice Service, Harry Armstrong of the Voluntary & Community Division at the Department for Communities, Sheila Fitzgerald of Civil Service Ben Fund, Eddie Smyth of Clanmil Housing, Ann-Maree Lorimer of First Trust Bank, Gareth Higgins of Ulster Collections & Recoveries Debt Management Operations PBB services.
MALG Northern Ireland differs from the other UK regional groups in that it does not currently offer membership in the same way.
