Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has shared a refreshed version of the Supportive Debt Recovery Toolkit, the first major update to this important resource in five years.
Developed in partnership with creditors and debt advice organisations, the toolkit provides practical guidance to help organisations deliver more effective and supportive debt recovery practices. It is also an example of what can be achieved through cross-sector collaboration, bringing together expertise from across the creditor, debt advice and MaPS communities.
The updated toolkit provides practical guidance, sector best practice and real-world case studies on:
✅ Improving referrals into free debt advice
✅ Embedding fair and sustainable ability-to-pay principles
✅ Simplifying engagement with debt advisers
✅ Supporting customers through specialist interventions
This resource provides practical insights for those working in in financial services, utilities, local government or debt advice that helps to strengthen approaches and improve outcomes for customers experiencing financial difficulty.
