Hello to all our MALG members and contacts! We have a lot to update you on so have tried to distil it down into one email. Please read on for details of our upcoming National Members Meeting, what’s happening with our Coronavirus ‘Friday Forums’, some big news about our annual conference and more!…
MALG National Members Meeting 9 July 2020: Register now!
Following the success of our first virtual National Members Meeting in April, we are running our July meeting via Zoom again. We are close to finalising the agenda but the format will be similar to last time, starting at 10.30 and closing at 12.30 with two topical sessions, one of which will be run by Anna Roughley and Jess Roberts of The Lending Standards Board.
Those eligible to attend will be sent a separate email invitation with Eventbrite booking link and password to register later this week. If you haven’t received anything by next week and want to attend, please email info@malg.org.uk.
Details of the AGM, which will take place before the main meeting, have already been sent to those with Voting Rights. If you have not received anything and think you should have, please email info@malg.org.uk
MALG Conference 2020: Re-scheduled!
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have taken the decision to re-schedule the MALG Conference from Thursday 29 October 2020 to Thursday 25 March 2021, and are planning to run a separate virtual event on the original date (details to follow). Delegate places booked for the October 2020 conference will be transferred to the new March 2021 date with the option of a refund for those that are unable to attend the new date.
Intrum has been confirmed as the headline sponsor for the second year running. Other sponsors confirmed so far include Computershare, Phoenix Commercial Collections and Dukes Bailiffs and exhibition stands are booking up fast with entitledto, Experian, Intrum, Phoenix Commercial Collections, TV Licensing and Vulnerability Registration Service all confirmed.
More details of the conference theme, programme, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors will be announced soon but you can book delegate places online now and we would recommend doing so sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment as numbers will be limited.
Coronavirus: MALG Members Friday Forum update
When we introduced a new weekly virtual forum for members to discuss, debate and update each other on the latest around the impact of Coronavirus on the money advice and related sectors back in March, we hoped it would provide much needed support at a challenging time. However, we didn’t anticipate just how well attended, how interactive and how well received it would be. We’ve therefore decided to continue running it on a weekly basis for the forseeable future so that we can all continue MALG’s aim of ‘working together to improve the lives of people in debt’ at a time when it is most needed.
Thank you to those who have been joining in each week for your input including Ben Beadle, Chief Executive of the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA), who joined us to field members’ pressing questions last week. Click here to read the research reports he referred to.
If you haven’t yet taken part in a MALG Members Friday Forum, please read the feedback below to see what you’re missing out on!
MALG Scotland recently held our first successful virtual regional meeting and we are hoping that other groups will be able to do the same until face-to-face events can resume safely. Dates for upcoming regional meetings can be found at www.malg.org.uk/events and these listings will be updated as and when we know whether they are being postponed or held via Zoom.
If you aren’t currently being invited to regional meetings and think you should be/want to be, please contact the relevant regional secretary:
