MALG ANNUAL MEMBER ENGAGEMENT SURVEY

The Annual Money Advice Liaison Group (MALG) Member Engagement Survey was introduced in 2023 to help us help you get the most out of MALG Membership.

While our aim is ‘working together to improve the lives of people in debt’, we also play an important role in supporting and therefore looking to improve the lives of those working in the debt sector. By listening to what our Members want and need, we aim to do even more drive collaboration and improve wellbeing and consumer outcomes.

If you work in any capacity across the debt landscape, we want to hear from you. Whether you are an existing/former/prospective MALG Member, or an associate/stakeholder, your feedback is invaluable to us and is used to help to shape our future strategy. The survey, which is open for circa six weeks in the Spring each year, is mostly made up of multiple choice questions with comment boxes at the end to expand on answers and share ideas or other feedback with us. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

MALG Member Engagement Survey 2024

Thank you to everyone who completed the MALG Member Engagement Survey 2024. You told us that:

  • Overall, Members are extremely satisfied with MALG, rate its services as high quality, and find the team responsive. MALG meets organisational and personal objectives and Members are likely to renew and recommend membership it to colleagues and contacts.
  • The MALG Friday Forum is an invaluable resource – so we will of course be continuing it and looking to make it even better.
  • You’d like to see more creditor-based content – which we will take on board for future agendas. Don’t forget you can suggest/request speakers and topics for National Members Meetings here and Regional Members Meetings here.
  • There is appetite for new initiatives from MALG to become more of a thought leader including live streamed events, a MALG podcast and more joint events/commissioned reports – all of which we are looking into/developing.
  • Most people find out about MALG through word of mouth and online recommendation – so please keep sharing and talking about us amongst your networks to help us widen our reach even further for the benefit of everyone!

We’d love to see even more Members and wider stakeholders engaging with MALG on social media, and while we note the decline of X (formerly Twitter), we are working hard to build MALG’s presence on LinkedIn by utilising the new features available and being more engaged with others. Please make sure you’re following MALG on LinkedIn to keep up to date with the latest. You can also now subscribe to Bob’s Blog on there.

2023 Results

Respondents told us:

What we do well…

  • Members are highly satisfied and would recommend us
  • Our services are considered high quality
  • We offer good value for money
  • We are recognised for fulfilling our aim/role well
  • Several people within Member organisations are aware of us and Members regularly attend events
  • We’re responsive, efficient and helpful

…and what we could improve on (all of which we’ve been working on)

  • Encourage our Members to input suggested topics, speakers or locations for upcoming events – we have introduced the opportunity to do this on our website and been encouraging Members to use it.
  • Ensure all Members receive relevant communications, and it reaches the correct contacts – we have worked hard on optimising our contacts database and ensuring that key information is disseminated via as many different channels as possible.
  • Be more of a thought leader on industry issues (while remaining impartial) – we have continued to share a more varied stream of latest sector news and held a joint Poverty Summit, while our CEO Bob has appeared as a guest on podcast and panels at industry events. We’re also working on new initiatives to address this, which will be announced soon.
