As we reflect on 2019, MALG’s role as a facilitator of challenging debate and joint action to improve the lives of people in debt over the long term seems more relevant than ever. Our aim for 2020 is to ensure that our unique and ever-growing membership, which spans a diverse range of organisations from across the whole debt and money advice landscape, continues to become richer, more diverse, and more engaged in our collective aims.
The real value in MALG membership is the relationships and conversations that are sparked by our national and regional meetings and annual conference, which bring together people who would not otherwise all be in the same room to discuss the most pressing issues facing those in debt. These relationships and conversations must continue between meetings both online and off and we must strive to take tangible action as a result of them. While we have big ambitions to continue to grow the MALG network – especially bringing on board more lenders, utilities companies, housing associations and other organisations in sectors where we are lacking broad representation – we believe strongly in quality over quantity and we want all MALG members to be as engaged as possible in the forum.
A good New Year’s Resolution for all our members would be to more actively engage in MALG next year to maximise the benefits of membership. This includes shouting about your MALG membership on your websites and via social media using the official MALG member logo as proof that your organisation is committed to ‘working together to improve the lives of people in debt’ as well as referring other organisations that you are engaged with to us as new members. You can also support us by encouraging contacts within your organisation and other organisations to sign up to receive these updates and by sharing our content online – don’t forget to tag us @malg_uk on Twitter and @Money Advice Liaison Group Ltd on LinkedIn. You can also use our regional group hashtags #MALGSE #MALGSW #MALGMids MALGNEY #MALGNW #MALGNI and #MALGScot.
We also need your ongoing input into hot topics you want to discuss at our meetings and events and support for our 2020 conference as well as an exciting new project we will be launching in early-mid 2020.
In return, we’re happy to share your news and events (where relevant) with our network where possible. Please add us to your distribution lists or keep us posted by emailing info@malg.org.uk |
