Hello to all our Members, Associates, Supporters and Friends! I hope this blog finds you all well. May I also take this opportunity to wish you, your families and your colleagues a very Happy and Peaceful Easter.

MALG National Members Meeting

We had a successful Members Meeting hosted by Womble Bond Dickinson in London last week with a “sell out” audience of 50 MALG Members and guests attending. We had some excellent speakers from the Financial Conduct Authority, Water UK and Energy UK along with Intrum on Ethical Collections. Copies of the presentations are available on the MALG Website

Save the date – MALG AGM and Members Meeting – 4th July 2019!

Just a reminder that our next National Members Meeting and AGM is to be held on Thursday 4th July 2019. Details about the meeting and the link to book your place on Eventbrite will be available shortly.

An important part of the AGM is the election of the Directors of MALG. On this occasion, two Directors will not be seeking re-election and we would therefore welcome nominations from members for new Directors. MALG seeks to achieve a balanced Board with representation from the various sectors concerned with personal debt, debt advice, debt collection and related ancillary matters within the UK. This year we are ideally looking for candidates with a background in the provision of Credit and in Collections and look forward to receiving your nominations by 30th April 2019.

MALG Conference 2019

The MALG Conference will be held on Thursday 24th October at 11 Cavendish Square in London.

The Conference Committee has commenced work on formulating the programme including keynote speakers and we will release details as soon as they are available. We have secured a headline Sponsor and are now looking for additional Sponsors for the event. Please contact me if you want to take up this opportunity. In addition, we will have Commercial Exhibition Stands available starting from £3,000 + VAT (including 2 free delegate places) and Non-Commercial stands available at £1500 + VAT (including 2 free delegate places). Places will be limited so please let me know if you wish to exhibit and to secure your place.

Traditionally, we have always charged delegates to attend the MALG Conference and we are pleased to advise that we have held 2017 prices as follows:-

  • Commercial delegate place £195
  • Non-Commercial delegate place £95

This year we are introducing a new Combined ticket for Commercial organisations at £290 which gives Commercial organisations an opportunity to fund a Non-Commercial Adviser. We will recognise these supportive businesses at the event.

Commercial sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are available as well as commercial exhibition stands and several negotiable sponsorship packages. If you would like to register your interest or get further information on any of the above, please email info@malg.org.uk.

Update from the new Money and Pensions Service

I am delighted to forward a message from Sarah Porretta, Strategy and Insights Director at the Money and Pensions Service:

“Last week we launched our new organisation, the Money and Pensions Service, bringing together the three government-sponsored providers of money and pensions guidance and debt advice with the vision of everyone making the most of their money and pensions. This also marked the start of our Listening Phase, a series of events across the UK through which we want to develop thinking for our National Strategy and three-year Corporate Plan.  We want to hear from everyone who has a stake in improving people’s ability to manage their money.  The first listening roadshow is in Bristol on 25 April.  For more information and to find an event in your area, please visit our listening page.”
