Hello to all our MALG Members and contacts. December is upon us, which means the MALG logo can officially don it’s Santa hat and we can start reflecting on what has undoubtedly been one of the most turbulent years across the debt landscape since… well, 2020!

We were delighted with the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the MALG Conference 2021 and plans are already underway for 2022, taking on board your comments about how we can make the event more accessible for ‘grassroots’ money advisers to attend. We’re also excited about transitioning back to more face-to-face events in 2022 while retaining a range of virtual networking and learning opportunities at both a regional and national level.

MALG Friday Forum – a festive finish for 2021 and plans for 2022

Thanks to everyone who has continued to attend and contribute to the MALG Friday Forum, which has taken place fortnightly throughout 2021 with an average of 40 attendees, involving people from 126 different organisations during the year! The last one of the year will take place on Friday 10 December 10-11am, which just so happens to coincide with Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day 2021 – so we hope to see you all on screen in your best festive attire!

The MALG Friday Forum was originally launched in April 2020 in response to the pandemic and has become an invaluable part of MALG Membership for many, allowing those from across the credit and debt landscape to keep up to date with the latest developments and discuss and debate key issues as they unfold.

MALG National Members Meetings 2022

We are looking to offer a blended approach of both virtual and face-to-face National Members Meetings in 2022.
The first one will take place on 3 February via Zoom – please save the date and look out for further details and booking link in the New Year.

We are then hoping to welcome you all to our first face-to-face National Members Meeting since the onset of the pandemic. The venue is yet to be confirmed, however it is scheduled for 12 May 2022.
The MALG AGM/National Members Meeting will also be face-to-face on 14 July and the 13 September National Members Meeting will take place via Zoom.

MALG Regional Meetings update

MALG Regional Group Meetings are still mostly being held via Zoom with some offering face-to-face opportunities where possible. Remember, if you are a National Member, you have access to all of the regional groups so please take advantage of this membership benefit.

The final Regional Members Meeting of 2021 is MALG North East & Yorkshire which will take place at the Brunswick Methodist Church in Newcastle on 16 December with a great line-up of speakers talking about the impact of the energy cap, reduction in Universal Credit, and the end of furlough.

Details of all upcoming regional meetings can be found at www.malg.org.uk/events.

If you aren’t currently being invited to regional meetings and think you should be/want to be, please contact the relevant regional secretary or email info@malg.org.uk:
