MALG National Members Meeting 12 May 2022 – presentations and papers

Thank you to everyone who joined us ‘in person’ for the MALG National Members Meeting at the London Transport Museum. We enjoyed welcoming our members back to face-to-face and were grateful for the sponsorship from CDER Group, who also arranged for our members to gain complimentary passes for the museum following the meeting.

The meeting began with a welcome and introduction from both Bob Winnington (MALG CEO) and Carole Kenney (Director of CDER Group). We were joined by Craig Simmons, Head of Debt Policy and Strategy at Money & Pensions Service (MaPS), who provided a detailed update which generated an engaging Q&A discussion. The morning session continued with an interesting presentation from Matt Greenwood, Head of Debt at the Centre for Social Justice, and an ‘eye-opening’ update from Cath Wohlers, Liaise Manager at the England Illegal Money Lending Team around the Hidden Debt Research.

The networking lunch break gave us the opportunity to meet a few of our new and existing members, some of whom we had not been able to meet in person since the onset of the pandemic.

Dr Nicola Sharp-Jeffs OBE and Jasbinder Kaur from Surviving Economic Abuse ended the day with a thought-provoking presentation including an insight into how it all began and just how far they have come.

All National Members should now have received an email with password to access all the presentations and papers from the day. If you haven’t received it and think you are eligible, please email us on info@malg.org.uk.

MALG National Members Meeting 14 May 2022 – save the date

The next MALG National Members Meeting on 14 July 2022 will coincide with our AGM and be held in London. We are currently looking for potential venues and a sponsor. Offers of support with either or both of these things would be much appreciated. Please email bob.winnington@malg.org.uk for details.
