Money Advice Liaison Group Logo

Membership of MALG Midlands is open to those organisations where their work is relevant and that share the aims and objectives of MALG overall. New organisations are considered at the steering meeting and, subject to acceptance, are invited to join.

The group is chaired by Darryl Matthews, Group Head of External Relations at Harrington Brooks and Antoinette Eaton, Money Advice Liaison Manager at Lloyds Banking Group. The group’s secretary is Vanora McCullagh, Third Party Relationship Manager at Lowell Financial. Other regular attendees include Alex Newton, Partnerships Manager at Money Advice Trust, Daniel Kelly, Creditor Relations Analyst at Christian’s Against Poverty, Celia Grantham, Senior Money Advisor at Derby Advice, Jenny Ogden, Partner at Shoosmiths LLP, and Stuart Laidler, Debt Advice Policy Analyst at Computershare.

MALG Midlands meets four times a year and covers the area from Staffordshire and Lincolnshire in the north to Warwickshire in the south, from Worcestershire in the west to Northamptonshire in the east and anywhere else in between! Meetings are usually in Nottingham, Birmingham, Coventry or Grantham at members’ offices.

Some of the topics that the group has addressed during the last twelve months include:

  • Welfare Benefits Reform
  • Food Banks, link to money advice and experiences of customers
  • FCA application experiences and challenges
  • Vulnerable Customers – identification and understanding
  • Updates on changes to Utility Suppliers policies and procedures
  • Brexit
  • Loan sharks

MALG Midlands prides itself on being an inclusive and innovative forum. We include a ‘What’s on Your Mind’ section to our meetings, which always generates great interest. It provides an open floor for members to raise topics of interest and concern and engage creditors and advisers in discussion on a Chatham House rules basis.

For a list of some MALG Midlands members see the regional section of the members page and for details of upcoming regional members’ meetings, see our events calendar.
