The Pensions Regulator executive director Charles Counsell has been appointed as the Money Advice Service’s new chief executive.

The Money Advice Service is set to merge with The Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise to form a new financial guidance body by the end of 2018.

Counsell was awarded an OBE in the 2017 New Year’s honours list for services to workplace pension reform and has extensive experience of stakeholder and change management. He will join MAS on 5 June 2017. His priority will be tackling financial capability and the challenges surrounding crisis debt advice.
