  • Money Advice Scotland Conference

    21 Jun 2018 to 22 Jun 2018

Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Clydebank, Glasgow G81 4SA

Money Advice Scotland’s 29th Annual Conference and Exhibition will take place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 June 2018 at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel, Clydebank. Our theme for 2018 is ‘Counting the cost of living in debt.’

The theme is in recognition of the growing prevalence of debts that are directly related to living costs: people who are falling behind on essential bills such as rent, council tax and fuel bills. Where credit is used, it is often a safety net to meet the shock of rising prices in the context of stagnating incomes.

A packed programme will cover the following topics:

    • Future of debt advice funding in a devolved context
    • Regulatory updates from the AiB and the FCA
    • Update on Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) changes
    • Financial inclusion for older people
    • Digital vulnerability and how clients can benefit from new technology
    • New code of conduct for creditors

This year, we are delighted to announce a keynote speech from author, performing artist and columnist, Darren McGarvey (aka Loki).

Darren’s best-selling 2017 book Poverty Safari: Understanding the Anger of Britain’s Underclass, blended memoir, journalism and polemic to make an argument that the complexity of poverty is misunderstood and that many traditional ideas are dangerously outdated.

A limited number of subsidised delegate packages are available for full Money Advice Scotland members.
