The VRS is the UK’s first central register for vulnerable people. It is free to use, entirely voluntary, and users can remove themselves from it whenever they decide their circumstances have sufficiently improved. By giving vulnerable consumers a single place to register their status, the VRS helps them avoid having to repeat the same difficult conversations every time they engage with organisations like lenders and creditors. The VRS is a not for profit company limited by guarantee, so all income is reinvested in running the register and supporting vulnerable consumers, and it is independent of any other database provider or credit reference agency. It has been developed following constructive dialogue over a long period with a range of stakeholders in the public, private and charity sectors.

Each year, Citizens Advice helps millions of people find a way forward by providing advice, education and support, and influencing policies and practices that affect consumers. Citizens Advice have been commissioned by GambleAware to deliver the national Citizens Advice Gambling Support Service. GambleAware is an independent charity tasked to fund, research, education and treatment services to help reduce gambling-related harms in Britain.
