The World Cup and Wimbledon are over but Brexit and the hot weather remain! In support of our Water Company members please use your water sensibly – I can’t believe I’m saying this after the winter we had! Thanks to all of you who attended our National Members Meeting on 5 July. Initial papers are now available on our website here. More to be added shortly. We are also asking all attendees to complete a short evaluation survey here. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us and will be used to improve future meetings.

For those of you who weren’t at the AGM prior to the meeting, it is with a heavy heart that I let you know that our fantastic Chair Liz Barclay will be stepping down towards the end of this year and we are now looking for her replacement…

MALG Chair vacancy

We are looking for a new Chair of MALG who is passionate about improving the lives of people in problem debt; someone with influencing skills and ambition to bring together creditors, advice bodies, policy makers and others active in the debt sector, to share best practice, insight and understanding in an open, non-judgemental forum.

The Chair should bring exceptional leadership skills and an ability to bring balance in MALG’s work, recognising the diverse interests of those operating with the sector, to deliver on our mission.

Current MALG Chair Liz Barclay, said: “Much as I love being chair of MALG, I can’t stay for ever.  Nor should I stay too long. Having led the organisation through several years of change it will soon be time to hand over to someone with new ideas on how to take MALG into its next phase. I’ve always believed that effective succession planning is an essential part of good governance. The Board of Directors of MALG are therefore starting their search for the next Chair now and when that process is completed we will decide on my departure/handover date. In the meantime, it’s business as usual.”

Talk Money Conference 2018, presented by Money Advice Service and MALG – book early to avoid disappointment!

Just in case you missed last week’s announcement that we are teaming up with the Money Advice Service for this year’s Talk Money Conference 2018 instead of holding our own standalone MALG Conference, find out more about the free, one day event at Central Hall Westminster on 14 November here.

We are handling all commercial sponsorship and exhibition enquiries via info@malg.org.uk and the Money Advice Service are currently taking expressions of interest for a small number of not-for-profit stands.

Since the announcement, we have been overwhelmed by the response and number of bookings already received. To avoid disappointment, please book early using the link below…

Welcome to new MALG member Affinity Water

We’re pleased to welcome our latest new MALG National Business Member Affinity Water! We now have a few water companies as members and are continuing to work hard to engage the wider utilities sector. If you know of any utility companies who may be interested in MALG membership, please put them in touch. Our next National Members Meeting on 4 October 2018 will be utilities themed so the timing couldn’t be better for new members from the sector to come on board.
